Asking to grant permission to the delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the Local Council of the UOC, headed by the Primate of the UOC, to celebrate Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Kyivan Metropolitans, the Church of St. Sophia Honourable Victor Andriyovych! The day of holding the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church is coming on, at which on January 27-29, 2009 the new Primate, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia is to be elected. Representatives of all the dioceses of the UOC in number of some 200 people will be delegates at the Council mentioned. According to the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC, the session of delegates of the UOC will take place on January 17. The unity of all around the one Eucharistic Cup will be in the focus of the named session. With one voice we will ask Christ the Life-Giver that He arranged everything for our benefit by His Blessed Providence. We ask You, Honourable Mr. President, to give directions to the respective administrative bodies to grant the Ukrainian Orthodox Church the possibility to celebrate Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Kyiv – the heart of the Holy Rus at this responsible moment. The Divine Liturgy on January 17, 2009 will be headed by the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in concelebration of the members of the Holy Synod of the UOC.
