Serb Orthodox monk assaulted in Kosovo

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA — A monk of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) was beaten up by two unidentified persons in southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica on Wednesday, Tanjug has learned.
Monk Mitrofan, whose secular name is Milorad Bulajić, was admitted Wednesday to a health center in northern Kosovska Mitrovica with injuries to his head and arm.
Doctor Gojko Igrutinović told Tanjug that the monk was admitted to the hospital with injuries of head and right arm at 10:20 CET.
Protopresbyter-Staurophor Milija Arsovic told Tanjug that the monk was assaulted for no reason by two persons in southern Kosovska Mitrovica.
He was wearing his religious clothing when he got attacked in southern Kosovska Mitrovica, which is mainly populated by ethnic Albanians.
He was taken to the hospital by members of the Kosovo police.
In the last two days, this is the second serious incident which took place in Kosovska Mitrovica, after a vehicle of the Kosovo Police Service (KPS) was shot by several bullets in the neighborhood of Bošnjačka mahala in northern Kosovska Mitrovica.
Kosovska Mitrovica is ethnically divided along the Ibar River into its northern, mostly Serb, and southern, ethnic Albanian parts.
