Norfolk Christian unity event looks at change
31/12/2011
A West Norfolk church is holding a special event to celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity from 18 – 25 January.
The Christian Unity initiative is observed by hundreds of churches across the world. This year’s theme, ‘we will all be changed’, comes from the churches in Poland, who have reflected upon their own experience as a nation, and in particular how, as a nation, they have been changed and transformed by the many upheavals of their history, and sustained by their faith.
The Parish of St. Mary & St. Felix on the Sandringham Estate are part of the British Orthodox Church. They will be holding a special event during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity on Saturday 21 January entitled “Change for the Better: Ecumenism & the Orthodox concept of Salvation.” The speaker will be Dr. Michael Kennedy.
Change is at the heart of the Christian faith. Saint Paul said that anyone who is in Christ is a new creation, and we are called to live as children in the light.
Change is also at the heart of the ecumenical movement. Prayer for change is both exciting and challenging; as churches gather to pray for transforming unity they will also be praying for change in the world.
Light refreshments will be available
