AMMONNEWS – Under the patronage of Archimandrite Khristoforous (Hanna) Attallah – the Patriarchal deputy of the North of Jordan- the National Orthodox School/Shmisani held its annual Christmas Tree Lightening Celebration.
Archimandrite Attallah wished the celebrators a Merry Christmas, away from sorrow, filled of love, peace and spirituality and the best for the community. Archimandrite Attallah also indicated his desire that the Orthodox Patriarchy of Jerusalem (the mother of all churches) plays an active role in achieving its duties and responsibilities towards the parish in particular and the world in general.
In her speech, Mrs. Rima Zananiri,-the School’s principal, wondered if Santa Claus would overcome the wall of discrimination and separation and arrive in Bethlehem, the city where Jesus Christ was born!
The celebration started with a small prayer by Father Boulos Khoury, the Christian education coordinator at the school, followed by hymns and Christmas carols presented by a number of students at the school’s coral. Around 300 people attended the celebration at Fuad Yaghnam auditorium and moved to the outer playground to watch the tree’s lightening, accompanied by a musical show performed by a number of Amman Orthodox scouts.
It’s worth mentioning that the National Orthodox School/ Shmisani, established in 1960, is the main project among the Orthodox Educational Society’s projects. The school has around 3000 students and countless prominent figures graduated from the school such as Her Highness Princess Din Meraed and his Excellency Samir Al-Rifaee.
