The Patriarch of Romania Consecrated the Museum of the Metropolitanate of Cluj
From 5 – 7 December 2011, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel pays a canonical visit to Cluj-Napoca, at the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Andrei, on the occasion of the anniversary of 90 years since the re-establishment of the eparchy of Vad, Feleac and Cluj.
After the celebration of the Divine Liturgy this morning by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel assisted by a group of 13 hierarchs, members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, priests and deacons, the events dedicated to the anniversary of 90 years since the re-establishment of the eparchy continued with the consecration of the museum of the Metropolitanate of Cluj by the Patriarch of Romania. The museum has been arranged at the semi-basement of the Metropolitan Cathedral housing the treasure of Romanian old art, as well as the oldest church objects of the patrimony of the Metropolitanate of Cluj.
On this occasion, Prof. Academician Marius Porumb, organiser of the museum said: “We own the initiative of the Metropolitanate of Cluj to reorganise the Museum Religious Art in a modern formula, deeply scientific, treasuring artistic and historical or documentary values, to the worthy remembering Metropolitan Bartolomeu. His Eminence Metropolitan Andrei took over the initiative with great enthusiasm. The semi-basement of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Cluj assigned to a priceless treasure comprises the history of the Church in the region, beginning with the old dioceses of Vad and Feleac, as well as pages of the re-established Archdiocese of Cluj”.
His Eminence Andrei, Metropolitan of Cluj, showed in the speech delivered that the organisation of the museum represents a bridge over history which values the richness of the Church: “We thank all those involved in the reorganisation of the museum which comprises many proofs of the presence of our Romanian Christian Orthodox nation in the history and we think that all these things will be a stimulus for the future generations to value the gifts that our forerunners bequeathed us and to further promote our faith”.
Tomorrow, at 13.00 o’clock, the awarding ceremony of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to His Beatitude Patriarch by this Transylvanian University will take place in Aula Magna of Babes-Bolyai University.
