Patriarch Hazim: AL Sanctions against Syria Unprecedented, Syrians Independent for Their Livelihood
1/12/2011
Patriarch Ignatius IV Hazim of Antioch and All the East for Greek Orthodox stressed Wednesday that the Arab League (AL) sanctions on Syria will not affect the Syrian people who are not dependent on others in the provision of their basic needs and for their means of livelihood.
“I haven’t heard that the Arab League had ever imposed sanctions similar to those it imposed on Syria…I don’t think that anyone can deny food and water to the Syrian people,” Patriarch Hazim said in a statement.
He added that Syria can take the necessary measures in this regard, hoping that Syria will overcome the current crisis.
He denied some media allegations that an explosion took place at Lattakia Archbishopric.
Regional leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party in Sudan: AL decisions against Syria unfair
The Regional leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party in the Sudan considered the Arab League decisions against Syria as “unfair and not based on the Arab League charter and goals”, adding that the decisions threaten the future of the joint Arab action and serve the best interests of the Arab nation’s enemies.
The regional leadership stressed in a cable sent to the National Leadership its rejection of foreign interference in the internal affairs of Syria, adding that the Sudanese people are aware of the conspiracy hatched against Syria and the resistant role of Syria.
The leadership hailed the serious steps of reform and the decrees issued in Syria which were supported by the Syrian people, stressing the importance of national dialogue as the best way to solve the current crisis.
