His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholics of All Armenians, blessed the education workers ahead of the Day of Knowledge. Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan was present at the event.
Following the ceremony His Holiness Karekin II and Minister Armen Ashotyan presented the joint programs. The history of the Armenian Church will be taught in all elementary, secondary and high schools.
The Armenian Apostolic Church had been engaged in solving educational issues for several centuries before Armenia gained independence.
“Today, when we have statehood, a secular ministry and schools, it would be a crime not to cooperate with the church in the field of education,” Minister Ashotyan said.
The Catholicos said he has great expectations from the joint programs. He believes that teachers will work with greater responsibility following the blessing ceremony.
