A particle of the relics of St. Basil the Great was brought to Moldova
27/7/2011
With the blessing of H.E. Metropolitan Vladimir, Archpriest Vasile Şestovschi, rector of the Nativity of the Mother of God parish in Padova, Italy, brought to Moldova a particle from the holy relics of St. Basil the Great. Since this evening, the holy relic is placed in the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord, where Christians can come to give glory to God and pray to the Lord and to St. Basil, asking for his intercession. The holy relic will stay in the Cathedral till July 31, after which it will be taken to churches across the country.
Fr. Vasile told us that a Christian woman from Italy gave him the holy relic as a gift in 2008, on the feast of St. Basil.
In the 17th c., a Greek hierarch gives a gift to an Italian man – a particle from the rib of St. Basil the Great. This particle has been piously kept till today, and is now available for Moldovan Christians.
