His Holiness Patriarch Kirill Conferred On the Order of the 450th Anniversary of Bringing the Pochayiv Icon to Volyn
The Order of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church dedicated to the memorable date – 450 years of bringing the Pochayiv Icon of the Mother of God to Volyn was conferred on the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church after the Divine Liturgy by His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir. On Wednesday, August 5, when the Orthodox Church venerates the Mother of God in Her Wonderworking Icon of Pochayiv, the liturgical service in the Pochayiv Lavra was presided over by His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
Upon completion of the Divine Liturgy His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir addressed the patriarch with a word of greeting, thanking His Holiness for the possibility of common prayer during these 10 days. “It will never be forgotten”, noted the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
In remembrance of the common liturgical service at the Pochayiv Lavra His Beatitude offered the Patriarch the icon of the Mother of God of Pochayiv and conferred on him the Order dedicated to 450th anniversary of bringing the Icon of the Mother of God of Pochayiv to Volyn.
