Holy Etchmiadzin respects the age and experience of Georgian Patriarch
21/6/2011
Today a press conference was held at Holy Etchmiadzin to conclude the results of the visit of Armenian Catholicos Garegin the Second to Georgia and Javakhk. Father Arshak Bishop Khachatryan, the Chancellor (divanapet) at Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin said Catholicos of All Armenians didn’t manage to visit Norashen and St. Nshan Churches because of the Georgian deconstructive attitude. “Georgian intolerance was seen during the whole visit,” he noted.
Father Arshak underlined that Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin had never had anything against Georgian Orthodox Church to have legal status. According to the speaker Georgian side tried to transfer the negotiations to another level.
“No document was signed during the meeting as the sides did not reach agreement on some important issues.”
Georgian Patriarch Ilya the Second had made some inappropriate announcements about Armenian religious leader and those announcements were spread by Georgian media yesterday. Referring to the theme, Father Arshak noted it was not proper to make such announcements about the religious leader of the neighboring country.
The speaker also noted it was inappropriate to comment on the announcement as Holy Etchmiadzin respects the age and experience of Ilya the Second.
Remind, Georgian Patriarch called Armenian religious leader inexperienced and young.
