New Orthodox Church Opens Doors in Sofa Mladost District

Fun and dancing for the youngest marked the Sunday festivities in Mladost district in Sofia where the first sod was turned for the construction of the new church of the Nativity of Christ.

A new Christian Orthodox church, The Nativity of Christ, will be erected in “Mladost” residential district in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. One of the oldest districts of Sofia “Mladost” has not had a church for decades. The ground breaking ceremony was inaugurated by mayor of the neighborhood, Petko Dyulgerov during a patron holiday of Mladost. Church designer, architect Krasimir Djedjev made the project for free. The initiative is implemented under the patronage of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova. Her gift to the church was a three-meter tall ornamented cross made by children. The donations to the church may be made at the Municipal Bank acc. No.IBAN BG 95 SOMB 9130 10 50536001.

“We are working hard to make life of the residents of Mladost easier and more pleasant,” said mayor Dyulgerov. “Recently we have opened 15 new playgrounds and four sports facilities, a new kindergarten is under construction,” he added. The celebration with dances, songs and other entertainments has gathered hundreds of Mladost residents yesterday.
