Exhibition opened in Zajecar – Late Antique/ Early Christian art in an interpretation of students of the SOC Academy

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Justin of Timok, on Friday April 29, 2011 in the National museum in Zajecar the exhibiton titled “1700 YEARS AFTER – Late Antique/ Early Christian art in the interpretation of the students of the Academy of the SOC.” The exhibition, with which began the marking of the 1700th anniversary of the edict of toleration of Religion consists of 40 pieces (Early Christian frescoes, mosaics, encaustic and facilities).

With the blessing of Bishop – the host, the exhibition was opened by His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, and the opening was magnified by the choir of the Cathedral church in Zajecar. About history of the early Church and its art protopresbyter-staurophor Dr Radomir Popovic spoke, dean of the Higher school – Academy of the SOC for arts and conservation from Belgrade. The opening was attended by His Grace retired Bishop Dr Atanasije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina, mayor of Zajecar Mr. Bosko Nicic, teachers and students of Higher school – Academy of the SOC, priests and lots of the faithful people of the Diocese of Timok.

The exhibition of works of the students of the Higher school – Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for arts and conservation (Belgrade) in the National Museum (Zajecar) are the reinterpretation of the artifacts of Late Antique style with a goal to uncover its real, inner content.
