Representative of Armenian community says situation calm in Syria

The Armenian community of Syria continues to live as it used to, the situation in the country is calm, representative of the Syrian diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Grigor Kokodunkyan commented on a situation in the Armenian community amid anti-government protests.
He categorically denied rumors about tensed political situation in Syria. “Everything is calm here, nothing has happened. Rumors about anti-government calls are exaggerated,” said Kokodunkyan.
On March 18, Syrian authorities dispersed crowd gathered in the southern city of Daraa. The demonstrators were protesting against ruling party, demanding political freedom and fight against corruption.
The rally which followed a Friday prayer was attended by 3-4,000 people.
