28. Jun Orders Release of 100,000 Protective Equipment Items to Fight Corona Virus in Serbia
28.Jun NGO – 16/3/2020
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has the potential for exceptional devastation in Serbia due to the country’s demographic makeup. Serbia has one of the oldest populations in the world with 33.19% being over the age of 55 and the virus has shown to be life-threatening to older generations.
The coronavirus outbreak has already left medical supplies in short supply around the world. This is why 28. Jun has earmarked over 100,000 protective equipment items including N95 respirator masks, gowns, gloves, and eye-protective goggles, to help curb the pandemic in Serbia.
We have an additional $1 million (CAD) worth of medical equipment in Serbia which we delivered from the US last year. This includes anesthesia machines, portable X-ray units, ultrasound machines, EKG/ECG machines and several tons of medical supplies. Each piece of equipment has been tested by a biomedical engineer and determined to be in good working order by our American supplier, ‘Supplies Over Seas’.
We have instructed the authorities to immediately release these urgent supplies and will be using our mailing list and social media platforms to inform the Serbian public on how to best prepare for the pandemic.
