20th annual conference of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Humanitarian University section on Trinitarian Theology Today: Science and Witness led by DECR communication director

The section considered topical themes of the Trinitarian theology today. In his presentation, Father George focused on the ways in which relations between the Persons of the Holy Trinity are reflected in the creation. He stressed the importance of Trinitarian context of the theology of dialogue in considering correlations between faith and science in the modern world.

Prof. Thomas Norris, a guest of the section from the National University of Ireland, presented the views of St. Patrick of Ireland on the Trinitarian theology and answered numerous questions from the audience, which consisted predominantly of students, post-graduates and professors of St. Tikhon’s University. They were especially interested in comparison between the theological and missionary work of the Celtic Church in Europe in the 7th-9th centuries and the theological mission of Russian Orthodoxy in Europe and America in the early 20th century.

The achievements made by the 20th-21st century Orthodox theological thought in the theology of human personality were presented by S. Chursanov, PhD, DD, associate professor at St. Tikhon’s University. He pointed to a considerable contribution made by Archimandrite Sofrony (Sakharov), an ascetic and theologian, to the development of Orthodox theology of the Trinity today.
