“Saakashvilli’s visit not to lead to revolutionary Changes”

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili’s visit to Armenia will have merely working nature and will not lead to any revolutionary change in bilateral relations, political scientist Sergey Minasyan, Deputy Director of Caucasus Institute said at the conference today.

According to the speaker, in the frameworks of the visit the issues concerning the infrastructure and condition of the Armenian population of Javakhk are to be discussed. According to the expert, they will also discuss Armenia’s possible mediation in the Russian-Georgian relations.

By Sergey Minasyan’s provision during the meeting of the delegations of Armenian and Georgian presidents can also be discussed the issue of the Armenian churches in. According to the speaker the fact that the Armenian Apostolic Church, as well as other religious communities do not have legal status, is conditioned with the disposition of the Georgian Orthodox Church.

“The Georgian Orthodox Church plays an important role in the internal life of that country,” he added expressing hope that the problem of the churches will be discussed in more detail.

The other participant of the conference, political scientist expert of Armenian Center for National and International Studies Manvel Sargsyan said that to his opinion in Armenian-Georgian relations the issue of the belonging of churches is inflamed by Turkey.
