“LET US CHERISH OUR ANCESTRAL GOLDEN TREASURE, THE ARMENIAN BOOK”- Declared Aram I during the opening of the Book Fair

On Sunday 31 October 2010, after the Holy Liturgy, His Holiness Aram I, the clergy and the seminarians, accompanied by the faithful walked in procession towards the pavilion for the official opening of the Book Fair.
After cutting the ribbon, His Holiness Aram I invited Armenians to continue treasuring the print literature. He said, “current technologies are discouraging people from reading printed materials and making our functional language irrelevant. Many people, including clergy, teachers and students have lost the full grasp of the richness of our language. We established the annual event of ‘Month of Armenian Books and Literature’ to encourage our people to read in Armenian, to keep remembering the ‘Golden Treasures’ of our forefathers, and continue to be inspired by those values. Technology offers many possibilities to our young generation, however, that should never be at the cost of denying our own books and literature.”
The annual Book Fair will be exhibiting old and new publications in Armenian from the Diaspora, the printing house of the Catholicosate as well as works of individual authors.
