“Millions of Orthodox Serbs Pray For You, As You Do For Us” Patriarch Porfirije to Novak Djokovic

Belgrade-Serbia: “Millions of Orthodox Serbs pray for you, as you do for us. From the troubles and temptations you are going through on Christmas, the day of joy, tomorrow only a pale shadow will remain,” stated Patriarch Porfirije to Novak Djokovic through his Instagram account. This was in response to Novak Djokovic’s on going struggles in Australia regarding Covid vaccine and visa issues.

Djokovic is a faithful of the Serbian Orthodox Church. In the year 2011, he was awarded the highest award of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Order of St. Sava of the First Degree by His Holiness Patriarch for his contributions to generosity and religion. Djokovic is famous for making the sign of the Orthodox cross while playing on the court.
