Initiative to Canonize Petar Petrovic Njegos withdrawn
Serbia 24/5/13 An initiative to have Petar Petrovic Njegos canonized has been withdrawn from procedure and the Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church will not involve itself with that topic, said Church spokesperson Bishop Irinej of Backa on May 23. The initiative to proclaim Njegos a saint was submitted by the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, and was presented at the Assembly by Metropolitan Amfilohije. Source:
