Belgrade-Serbia: His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije is set to embark on a canonical visit to the Diocese of Canada. The visit will begin on October 4th with a solemn doxology at the Holy Trinity Church in Montreal.
On October 5th, the Patriarch will preside over the Divine Liturgy at the same church, followed by a celebration marking the 70th anniversary of the Serbian church-school municipality.
The Serbian Orthodox Eparchy of Canada, led by Archbishop Mitrofan Kodić, was established in 1983 and covers the entire country. The first Serbian church-school municipality was founded in 1912 in Ridžajna, Saskatchewan.
Over the years, the Serbian community in Canada has grown significantly, with numerous parishes and missions established across the country. The Diocese also operates the Association of Serbian Sisters, the Car Lazar Charitable Fund, and the magazine Istočnik.
The Patriarch’s visit is expected to strengthen ties between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian community in Canada.
