Russian Orthodox Church Delegation Meets with Armenian Catholicos

Yerevan-Armenia: A delegation from the Russian Orthodox Church, led by Metropolitan Isidore of Smolensk and Dorogobuzh, met with Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II at the Holy Etchmiadzin on September 26.
The meeting served as a platform to discuss bilateral relations between the two churches and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening ties. Metropolitan Isidore conveyed greetings from His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’, and expressed gratitude for the Armenian Church’s support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Catholicos Karekin II reciprocated the greetings and emphasized the importance of maintaining relations between the two churches, united by a shared history and Christian tradition. He also recalled his own experiences studying at the Moscow Theological Academy and the fraternal relations he has fostered with the Primates of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The parties explored opportunities for further cooperation and development of bilateral relations. The Russian Orthodox Church delegation’s visit to Armenia coincided with the ceremonial events dedicated to the re-consecration of the Etchmiadzin Cathedral and the consecration of holy chrism.
