Patriarch Abune Matthias Receives A Coptic Delegation

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia: On Sunday, February 2, 2025, His Holiness Abune Matthias, Patriarch and Catholicos of Ethiopia, Archbishop of Axum and Echege of the See of Takla Haymanot received a Coptic Orthodox delegation that was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Anba Biemen, Metropolitan of Naqada and Qous, Abbot of Archangel Michael’s Monastery of Assas Mount, Standing Committee Member, Public Relations Committee Head and National Participation Sub-Committee Head of the Coptic Church.

His Holiness and the delegation discussed strengthening ties particularly in the diaspora to aid the faithful share spaces of worship where need arises. The delegation presented a message and a gift that was sent from His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa on the Holy Apostolic See of Saint Mark the Evangelist of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, and thanked the warm spiritual reception they were extended, and appreciated the permission that was re-granted to the Coptic faithful to access Coptic services and ministry in Holy Trinity Cathedral which underwent extensive renovations and was reopened on January 14, 2025.
