Patriarch Hazim: AL Sanctions against Syria Unprecedented, Syrians Independent for Their Livelihood
1/12/2011 Patriarch Ignatius IV Hazim of Antioch and All the East for Greek Orthodox stressed Wednesday that the Arab League (AL) sanctions on Syria will not affect the Syrian people who are not dependent on others in the provision of their basic needs and for their means of livelihood. “I haven’t heard that the Arab League had ever imposed sanctions similar to those it imposed on Syria…I don’t think that anyone can deny food and water to the Syrian people,” Patriarch Hazim said in a statement. He added that Syria can take the necessary measures in this regard, hoping that Syria will overcome the current crisis
