Schedule for annual Saint Herman Pilgrimage Announced
OCA 29/7/2011 Hundreds of faithful will gather here August 7 – 9, 2011, for the annual pilgrimage honoring Saint Herman of Alaska, one of the first Christian missionaries to serve the people of Alaska. According to Priest Innocent Dresdow of Kodiak’s Holy Resurrection Cathedral, the pilgrimage will open on Sunday, August 7, with a welcoming “Saint Yakov Tea” at the Suniaq Tribal Hall from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m., the Akathistos Hymn in honor of Saint Herman will be celebrated at the cathedral, where the relics of Saint Herman are enshrined
