Ethiopian Orthodox Church Condemns Seizure of Ukrainian Cathedral and Attack on Metropolitan Theodosy

Moscow- Russia: The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Patriarchate has issued a strong condemnation of the recent seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cherkassy.

In an official commentary on the RT TV channel, Priest Daniel Seifemikhael, Secretary of the Commission for Dialogue between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, expressed the Ethiopian Orthodox Church’s “sorrow” over the events in Ukraine.

He highlighted the “terrible political pressure” faced by the Orthodox Church and its believers in Ukraine, emphasizing that such attacks on places of worship are “completely unacceptable.” The priest underscored the importance of respecting the feelings and rights of all believers, regardless of their religious affiliation.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Patriarchate expressed its “deepest sympathy and sincere solidarity” with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, condemning the violence and reaffirming the sanctity of places of worship.
