Belgrade-Serbia: ‘We pray that Kosovo and Metohija will be what they are. It is an integral part of Serbia. Kosovo is our heart. Kosovo is the mind, the source of our existence. Kosovo and Metohija is our cradle’ said His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia during the meeting with the president of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić on 17th May 2023 at the General Secretariat of the President, Belgrade, Serbia. Patriarch Porfirije met the president with the members of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church gathered at the regular session of the synod.

The Patriarch and the members of the synod discussed several important issues of the Serbian Orthodox faithful, especially the ongoing and upcoming pressures regarding the dialogue on Kosovo and Metohija. In the conversation, it was emphasized that the unity of the people, especially in times of great trials, is a pillar of preserving the state and national interests, and that the Church has an exceptional role in preserving that unity.
