About Sofia Karekla
Sofia Karekla is a PhD candidate at the Department of Journalism and Mass Media of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has a bachelor and master degree from the same department, specializing in Journalism and New Media. Since 2005, she has been working as a journalist in print and electronic media in Thessaloniki. She specializes in religion reporting. Ms. Karekla has attended the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s first religion reporting seminar in London on a scholarship.

Since 2014, she has been the editor-in-chief of the religion news website www.orthodoxia.info. She is a member of the International Association of Religion Reporters (IARJ). She has presented papers at international and national conferences about the Church and the media in Greece and religion media of Greece.
