Maramureş – Romania: Varlaam of Ploieşti and the Auxiliary Bishop to Patriarch of Romania consecrated St. John the Baptist Ruscova” monastery in the county of Maramureş on the 21st of September 2021, reports Basilica News Agency. The Monastery church is constructed on the land offered by the Ukrainian Orthodox Parish of Ruscova.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Vicariate is an autonomous administrative ecclesiastical unit, that is canonically dependent on the Romanian Patriarchate. The Vicariate serves Ukrainian Orthodox faithful living in Romania. It is administratively autonomous and uses the Julian calendar, unlike the Romanian Church.
