Visit to Mor Gewargis Assyrian Church of the East in Qamishli

His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited Mor Gewargis Assyrian Church of the East in Qamishli accompanied by their Eminences Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary and Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs.

He offered to help the Christians who were forcedly displaced after the recent attacks on the Christian villages in Khabour as well as a donation of 5 million Syrian Pounds from St. Ephrem Patriarchal DevelopmentCommittee.
His Holiness also prayed for the soul of late lamented Patriarch Mar Denkha IV.

Naheere service at Mor Aphrem Church

His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II conducted the Naheere service at Mor Aphrem Church in Qamishli.  In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the importance to be spiritually prepared by nurturing the virtues and refusing all kinds of evil. He declared the beginning of the Week of the Passion of Christ and prayed that the crisis in Syria might be lifted and a new dawn might shine on the Syrian people, especially those who desire to live peacefully in their homeland and are attached to the land of the forefathers.

Palm Sunday

His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated Palm Sunday at St. Mary Church in Qamishli. Their Eminences Mor Justinus Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar in Zahleh and Beqaa, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary, and Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs assisted His Holiness in the Holy Qurobo.

His Holiness spoke about the glorious entry of our Lord Jesus Christ to Jerusalem. He spoke about preparing the way to the Cross and then the Resurrection.

His Holiness also encouraged the Syriac Orthodox faithful in Qamishli to remain attached to their land and heritage.
He also remembered the sacrifices of our forefathers to defend our faith, especially in the context of the centennial commemoration of Sayfo.
