Metropolitan Serpahim hands over cheque towards ‘Rebuild Kerala’ project to Catholicos of the East

BENGALURU-INDIA: HH Moran Mor Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan and Supreme Head of the Indian Orthodox Church, was handed over a cheque of Rs 60,00,000 by Bangalore Diocese Metropolitan, HG Dr. Abraham Mar Seraphim.
Malankara Church Announces Rehabilitation Programs for the Victims of Kerala Floods
The amount was the joint contribution by members of the Bangalore Diocese under Mar Seraphim and the cheque was handed over to the Catholicos during the visit of His Holiness to St Gregorios Orthodox Cathedral, Hosur Road, Bangalore, on January 19, 2019, Saturday.
The amount will go towards supporting various disaster relief works in Kerala which swept the state during the worst floods in nearly a century last August. The torrential floods had uprooted normal lives of the people in the state.
As a rehabilitation measure, 17 trucks loaded with food, clothing and other essentials were collected across churches in Bangalore and dispatched to different parts of Kerala to assist the people in distress.
Under the leadership of Diocese Metropolitan HG Dr. Abraham Mar Seraphim who along with the parish vicars unitedly led the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Churches (MOSC) in Bangalore towards supporting the various disaster relief works on a priority basis. As a continuous effort to help rebuild Kerala, the Metropolitan handed over the cheque which will also help fund the Housing Project of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
