Australia: Coptic faithful are divided over the accusation of financial fraud against Bishop Daniel of the Coptic Church (Diocese of Sydney and Affiliated Regions) . The Bishop has been removed from all spiritual administrative powers by Pope Tawadros II of Alexandra in response to the allegations. The Bishop is presently under investigation by the Financial Crimes Squad.
Interestingly Saturday’s Herald published un unusual advertisement declaring the innocence of Bishop Daniel. It was also revealed that a developer who bough property from the Church (by the approval of Bishop Daniel) funded the advertisement. However, Bishop stated that he had no knowledge or involvement in the advertisement.

The advertisement claimed that an anonymous group of Coptic faithful are making use of the allegations against Bishop and they are seeking to divide the Church by installing a Bishop of their own choice.
