Moscow-Russia: “In recent years, we have encountered with the Patriarch of Constantinople’s claims to special privileges, special powers in the Orthodox Church, which are akin to the papal powers in the Roman Catholic Church”, stated Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, the Chairman of the External Relation Department of the Moscow Patriarchate. He was responding to Ye. Gracheva, the anchor of the Church and the World TV talk show, reports mospat.ru.

“When the Patriarch of Constantinople begins showing authoritative powers, when he declares that he can interfere in the affairs of any Local Church, reshape the boundaries of Churches and unilaterally repeal 300-years-old acts and agreements, the Local Orthodox Churches certainly disagree with it” concluded Metropolitan Hilarion.

on the 18th of September 2021, during the opening ceremony of the conference ‘World Orthodoxy: Primacy and Conciliarity in the Light of Orthodox Dogmatic Teaching’, Patriarch Kiril stated that “The state of affairs in the family of the Local Orthodox Churches is cause for great concern. The situation that has arisen in the Orthodox Church we may judge to be a crisis”.
