Ahmedabad Diocese to host 3-day biennial clergy conference of Indian Orthodox Malankara Church

AHMEDABAD, Gujarat, India — Ahmedabad Diocese under HG Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, is all set to host the sixth biennial clergy conference for 3-days from August 19 to 21.

The conference is set on the theme “Servant of the new covenant” from 2 Corinthians 3:6 and will be held at the Hotel Sarovar Portico on Ellis Bridge.

The conference is blessed by the patronage of  His Holiness  Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II (Catholicos), HG Thomas Mar Athanasios, President of St Thomas Vaidika Sangham, HG Geevarghese Mar Coorilose, Metropolitan of Mumbai Diocese, HG Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius, Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese, HG Dr Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros, Metropolitan of Madras Diocese, Dr Yuhanon Mar Demetrius, Metropolitan of Delhi Diocese, HG Yakoob Mar Elias, Metropolitan of Brahmavar Diocese, HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, (host as Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan) and Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim, Metropolitan of Bengaluru Diocese.

Fr Dr O Thomas and Fr Dr Jossi Jacob are the guest speakers.

HH the Catholicos will deliver the valedictory message on August 21 at the concluding session with presidential address by HG Mar Athanasius. Those who will be felicitated include Rev Thomas Macwan, Bishop of Ahmedabad, Mar Coorilos, Mar Yulios, Fr Issac C A and Adv Mathai Mampallil. Fr Thomas Amayil and Fr Saji Yohannan will present the future plan presentations.

On the first day, HG Mar Coorilos will light the lamp and deliver the inaugural address during the inaugural session followed by welcome speech by Dr Mar Yulios and presidential address by Mar Athanasius.HE Stanislaus Fernandes, Archbishop of Gandhinagar, Dr Mar Seraphim, Fr Thomas Amayil, M G George Muthoot and Dr Abraham Koshy will deliver felicitations.

There will be panel discussions on government and governance, Gandhiji’s encounter with Christianity and Spirituality in Indian context.

Other sessions include meditations from Dr Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros, Bible study by Dr Mar Demetrius, class by Yakoob Mar Elias, health care checkup and class by Dr Eapen Cherian, classes by Fr Dr Jossi Jacob, Director, PG Programme, Holy Trinity Theological College, Adis Ababa.

There will also be report presentations on main events, projects, diocesan programmes and STOTS, discussions and group reports with Ahmedabad Darshan (Gandhi Marg) thrown in on the second day. On the final day, the plenary sessions will have reports of group discussions, resolutions and statements with HH the Catholicos leading the Holy Eucharist. Fr Tiju V Iype will welcome and Fr V Daniel, general convener, will deliver the vote of thanks.
