Metropolitan <\/span>Alvares<\/span> <\/span>Julius<\/span> <\/span>(Western Rite Orthodox)<\/span> Research Project <\/span>(MARP<\/span>)<\/span> <\/span>is<\/span> the first exclusive project for the <\/span>research<\/span> and <\/span>study<\/span> of the Western Rite Orthodox missionary efforts of Metropolitan-Archbishop <\/span>Alvares<\/span> <\/span>Julius<\/span> and his <\/span>companions<\/span>, as <\/span>well<\/span> as the Western Rite <\/span>(Latin Rite, Anglo Rite, Old Catholic, Independent Catholic, <\/span>Protestant<\/span>)<\/span><\/span> communities that <\/span>reunited<\/span> with Oriental Orthodox churches with special reference to Syriac and Malankara Orthodox Churches<\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The research project also focuses on the historical and contemporary importance of the independent Western Rite Churches and communities as well as those Western Rite communities in relation to the Eastern Byzantine Orthodox Churches.<\/strong><\/p>\n

MARP<\/span> aims at promoting <\/span>Western<\/span> Rite <\/span>Orthodox<\/span> studies and research, as <\/span>well<\/span> as the <\/span>mission<\/span> and <\/span>life<\/span> of the legendary Metropolitan <\/span>Alvares<\/span> Julius and his <\/span>companions<\/span> who were directly and indirectly connected with <\/span>Syriac-Malankara<\/span> <\/span>Orthodox<\/span> <\/span>Churches<\/span>.<\/span><\/span> The project intends to research and publish aspects of the Western Rite Orthodox Churches as well as the notable and unknown aspects of Metropolitan Julius, his life, mission, and his companions.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Materials published are original research articles by MARP or compiled from various sources. The Project features Indian Malankara and Syriac Orthodox Church prelates, laymen, who were, directly and indirectly, connected to Metropolitan Alvares and his missionary efforts.<\/p>\n

MARP<\/strong> is a learning research project under the Center for Orthodox Studies (COS)<\/strong>, which is constituted under the Department of Church Research and Studies of Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE (OCP), Pan-Orthodox Christian Society, launched in 2009. The web portal of the project was inaugurated in the month of May 2013. Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE is an NGO-Society legally registered organization under the Travancore Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955.<\/p>\n
