Islamists Destroy and Burns Down Two Orthodox Churches in Silt’e Zone (Ethiopia)

Addis Ababa – Ethiopia: On Thursday, April 28, 2022, in the Silt’e zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region of Ethiopia, (where Muslims are the majority), two churches (the Church of the Archangel Saint Raphael in Werabe District and the Church of the Archangel Saint Gabriel in Sankura District) were burned down.

In addition, clergy and the faithful were beaten and their properties were looted and destroyed. Attacks against Orthodox Christians and Churches have risen over the years in several parts of Ethiopia, especially by radical Islamists and ultra national Protestant groups.
