Catholicos Karekin II Appreciated European Parliamentarians Efforts in the Peaceful Settlement of Artsakh

Yerevan-Armenia: H.H. Karekin the Second Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians appreciated the European parliamentarian’s Efforts in the Peaceful Settlement of the Artsakh issues. A remark from his holiness was made on the visit of French members of the European Parliament, co-chairs of the friendship group with Artsakh in the Council of Europe, Sylvie Guillaume and Francois Alphonse, accompanied by Gaspar Karapetyan, president of the European Office of the ARF Armenian Dat to Holy Etchmiadzin on February 21, 2023.

According to Holy Etchmiadzin:

At the meeting, the Patriarch of All Armenians expressed his appreciation to the parliamentarians for their efforts in the peaceful settlement of the Artsakh issue. His Eminence also expressed his appreciation to the European office of the ARF Armenian Dat for consistently raising the issues of Artsakh Armenians in various European structures and protecting the just right to live freely and independently.

His Holiness, presenting to the guests the fragile situation in the region and in particular the humanitarian crisis created in Artsakh due to the blocking of the Lachin Corridor, reflected on the expectations of the Armenian people from the international community in this regard. His Eminence noticed that Azerbaijan’s expansionist policy, destabilizing the region, can be prevented with the support of friendly countries and a clear position of the international community.

During the conversation, the deputies of the Council of Ministers, condemning the Azerbaijani encroachments during the war and post-war period, assured His Holiness that they will continue to bring their support and cooperation to Armenia and Artsakh Armenians in the European structures.
