Romanian Orthodox Church Expresses Disappointment Over Delayed Recognition in Ukraine

Bucharest-Romania: The Romanian Orthodox Church’s Holy Synod expressed disappointment on October 25,2024, over the continued delay in recognizing the Romanian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. Despite the Ukrainian Church’s adherence to all relevant Ukrainian laws, the Ukrainian authorities have postponed the official recognition process.
The Synod emphasized its commitment to resolving this issue and will continue to engage with both Romanian and Ukrainian authorities to expedite the recognition process.
Synodal resolution:
“With regret, the Synod acknowledged the unjustified postponement by Ukrainian authorities of legal recognition for the “Romanian Orthodox Church in Ukraine” religious association despite its compliance with all applicable Ukrainian laws. The Synod approved continued efforts with central authorities in Romania and Ukraine to resolve this legitimate request.”
