Patriarch Porfirije Inspires Young Athletes from Kosovo and Metohija

Belgrade-Serbia: His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije welcomed over three hundred young athletes from Kosovo and Metohija, as well as from various regions and diaspora communities, to the iconic Saint Sava Temple in Vračar on August 10, 2024.

The athletes were participants in the “Serbia is Calling You” sports camp, organized by the “Sportstars” association with the support of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Serbia, and the Directorate for the Diaspora of the Republic of Serbia.

In his address to the young guests, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized the importance of prayer, faith, and spiritual growth in conjunction with athletic pursuits. He highlighted the significance of Saint Sava as a guiding force for the Serbian nation and encouraged the athletes to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.

The “Serbia is Calling You” campaign aims to promote sports development among young people while preserving Serbian tradition and identity. The camp provided talented athletes with the opportunity to train under the guidance of renowned Serbian sports figures.
