Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil Meets Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad to Strengthen Ties Between Bulgaria and Jordan

Sofia – Bulgaria: His Holiness Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria met on April 3, 2025, with Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Adviser to King Abdullah II of Jordan on religious and cultural affairs. The prince is part of the official delegation accompanying the Jordanian king on his visit to Bulgaria.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the traditionally strong relations between Bulgaria and Jordan, emphasizing the deepening of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
“The fact that Christians living in Jordan, as well as those visiting the country, feel welcomed and accepted speaks volumes,” said Patriarch Daniil. He highlighted Jordan’s rich historical significance, particularly its connection to events described in the Holy Scriptures.
Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad extended an official invitation to Patriarch Daniil to visit Jordan. Discussions also included the establishment of a Bulgarian pilgrimage center to support Bulgarian visitors to Jordan’s historical and religious sites.
Both parties agreed that interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding are essential pillars in building a harmonious society.
The meeting was attended by His Eminence Metropolitan Gregory of Vratsa, Archpriest Stylian Tabakov—Chairman of the Pilgrimage Center “St. John of Rila,” and Associate Professor Dr. Maria Kyoseva—Legal Adviser to the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
At the conclusion of the meeting, gifts were exchanged, and both sides expressed hope for further collaboration. Following the discussions, Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad visited the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky and the historic Church of St. Sophia, where he expressed deep admiration for their architecture and historical significance.
