Ethiopian Community Opens First Chapel in Poland with the Help of Orthodox Church of Poland

Warsaw-Poland: The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church started liturgy in the newly consecrated first chapel in Poland dedicated to the Archangel Saint Gabriel, Warsaw on 12th March 2023. The chapel is located in the underground space of St. Sophia – Wisdom of God Orthodox Church of Poland. His Beatitude Sawa – Archbishop of Warsaw and Metropolitan of All Poland allowed the use of this space as per the request of members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo community in Poland. 

H.E Abune Dionysios, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Germany and its surroundings consecrated the chapel and celebrated the liturgy on 12th March 2023. After the liturgy, the archbishop and the delegation were welcomed in the St. Sophia Church by the parish priest, Fr. Adam Siemieniuk and he expressed his joy that the parish of St. Sofia – Wisdom of God in Warsaw has become a place of prayer and a home for the faithful of the Ethiopian Church. In the reply speech, H.E Abune Dionysios thanked the Orthodox Church of Poland, His Beatitude Sawa – Archbishop of Warsaw for providing a space for the Ethiopian Orthodox community, and Fr. Adam Siemieniuk for his warm welcome. The Archbishop along with the delegation further discussed with the officials of the metropolitanate on additional support that can be provided for the faithful.
