Addis Ababa- Ethiopia: Archbishop Abune Ephraim of North Shewa (Ethiopia) entered eternal rest at the age of 96 on Sunday, March 6, 2022, after a long illness, for which his grace was under medical care at Gesund Cardiac and Medical Center. Abune Ephraim served the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church as a bishop and an archbishop after his ordination on January 23, 1980, by the late Abune Takla Haymanot, the 3rd Patriarch of the Ethiopian Church. He served in the dioceses of Arsi (for 3 years), Mekele/Tigray (for 6 years), and North Shewa.

Abune Ephraim particularly ministered the bishopric of North Shewa (which was a new diocese during his appointment) for around 30 years until he was unable to serve due to old age. His Grace lived a life of prayer and loved to recite the Psalms, the Theotokion (the Ethiopic Version), and Arganon of Abba Giorgis of Gasicha (A Praise of St. Mary).
